In September 2025, at the No. 2 Steelmaking Plant of Guangxi Beigang New Materials Co., LTD., as the molten steel ladle was smoothly lifted into the VOD vacuum tank for refining treatment, it marked the successful completion of the hot-state performance test of the "90T-VOD vacuum Refining Furnace" project. This project, as the core link of the product structure optimization and technological transformation and upgrading (Phase I) of Beigang New Materials, not only provides key equipment support for its high-end stainless steel production, but also further consolidates the technical strength of VPS vacuum pumps in the field of metallurgical vacuum smelting equipment.
To implement the requirements for product structural reform and high-quality development in the "14th Five-Year Plan" strategic plan of Beigang New Materials, the 90-ton VOD system of the Second Steelmaking Plant adopts a dual-station, online tank truck walking layout. It innovatively applies the "double tank, double cover, double truck" structure, where the tank cover is fixed to the lifting device, and the tank body moves along with the vacuum tank truck, featuring efficient and flexible continuous operation capabilities.
As the core equipment for the secondary refining of molten steel, the VOD refining furnace, with its advanced functions such as rapid degassing and deep decarburization, can effectively enhance the purity and composition control accuracy of molten steel, and is particularly suitable for the production of high-value-added stainless steel. The successful operation of this technology will provide a solid guarantee for Beigang New Materials to expand its high-end product line and achieve high-quality stainless steel manufacturing throughout the entire process. Meanwhile, the significant advantages of VOD furnaces in reducing energy consumption and optimizing costs also help enterprises build a dual competitiveness of "structural reshaping + extreme cost".
